John Ward, a well known resident of Weller Township, died at his home in Pavonia, at 2 o'clock Sunday morning.

The deceased was born in England in 1816, and was the son of Joseph ward.  His father came to this country in 1819 and located at Pavonia, where Mr. Ward has resided ever since with the exception of one year which he spent in South Carolina staging and carrying the mails.  He has occupied several offices in the gift of the people, such as township trustee and township clerk.  In 1844 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary N. Condon of Mifflin Township.  H.R. Ward, a son, resides in this city and C.P. Ward resides at Seattle, Wash., but will be present to attend the funeral services which take place Thursday morning at 10 o'clock.
